You gotta love science. You can say shit like “I’d like to study bats sucking each other off” and then you can write it up (with video!) in a well-respected journal. But enough snark — I am always tickled when sex research of any kind reaches the masses, even if it’s (as yet) unrelated to anything that might help us humans and our tremendous amount of sexual baggage.
The gist? Bats who give BJs have longer romps in the hay than bats that don’t. Why? Who knows. Check out the BoingBoing article, which has a link to the scholarly article. And be sure to carefully study the “Licking” vs. “No Licking” diagram. It’s very, ah, illuminating.
