Announcing Pornotopia Film Festival Call for Submissions
Festival Dates: November 12 – 14, 2010
Pornotopia is a film festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico celebrating the beauty and diversity of sexuality. Pornotopia values luscious, kinky, consensual, gender-bending, sex-positive, empowering, educational, and downright dirty interpretations of the erotic on the big screen. This November marks Pornotopia’s fourth glorious year. Pornotopia first launched onto Albuquerque’s scene in 2007 with a bang and a whole lot of media attention and even more community support. Over the years the festival has proudly shown films from Tony Comstock, Tristan Taormino, Jamye Waxman, Annie Sprinkle, Shine Louise Houston, Maria Beatty, Erika Lust, Jennifer Lyon Bell, Audacia Ray, Max Royale, Madison Young, Courtney Trouble and many more incredible filmmakers.
We’d love your help with this vision! Submit your film(s) and join us in this sex-positive erotic film revolution. Your work can change how people’s bodies, hearts, and oh so many other parts are introduced, explained, viewed, and celebrated. Whether you’re an amateur filmmaker on weekends, or part of big-budget, mainstream Hollywood - we want to see your work! Pornotopia Film Festival has been an influential force in changing what is viewed as sexy. Through Pornotopia, hearts, minds, and legs have opened to new ideas of what porn is. We think Annie Sprinkle said it best, when she explained, “The answer to bad porn isn’t no porn, it’s to make better porn.” Please help us showcase the best porn there is!

A Little Bit About Us:
Pornotopia Film Festival is a labor of love. This festival is created and cultivated by a small, dedicated and perverted group of volunteers, with the support of Self Serve staff. Self Serve is a queer, woman-owned and kink-friendly shop located in Albuquerque, New Mexico and online at www.selfservetoys.com. We seek to spread the understanding and practice of sexual health, positivity and pleasure.
We are looking for a variety of films including straight/ gay/ lesbian/ bisexual/ transgender/ queer/ kink/ documentary/ differing abilities/ sexy people of any size, shape or color/ cowboys/ amateur/ progressive/ seasoned lovers / woman or man or genderqueer directed/ local/ realistic/ humorous/ genuine experience/ diversity of body types or whatever floats your boat.
Entry Fees & Deadline:
All Submissions are being accepted from April 16 to May 14, 2010, and our screening committee will draft final selections by September 30, 2010.
There is a $10 entry fee for each filmmaker/film (unless you’ve been featured in Pornotopia during previous festivals).

Confirmation:
Please enclose a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope or Postcard if you wish to receive confirmation that your entry has been received. We will only send confirmation if this is included.
Selection & Notification:
Programming decisions are made by committee after review. Screening committee film selections will be determined by September 30, and we will notify all filmmakers (via e-mail) which films have been selected. A full schedule of the festival, including exact screening times will be sent out in October. If accepted, the print of your film, or presentation video will need to be received at our mailing address by October 1st. Once a work is submitted for entry, it may not be withdrawn.
Selections will either be shown as excerpts or features. Excerpts will be selected by committee and shown within showcase of a theme. Shorts may also be entered for consideration for showcases. Possible showcase themes could be: straight/ gay/ lesbian/ bisexual/ transgender/ queer/ kink/ thriller/ sexy people of size/ cowboys/ amateur/ progressive/ woman-directed/ local/ realistic/ broadening definitions of fetish/ humorous/ genuine experience/ diversity of body types or possibly a genre you suggest for your piece.
Exhibition Formats:
35mm, 16mm, Beta SP, Mini-DV or DVD
Shipping:
Cost of shipping exhibition prints to the festival, and any related customs and insurance is the responsibility of the entrant. Exhibition copies must be sent to the festival prepaid. All film reels, cans, videotapes and cases must be labeled with the title of the entry. Self Serve will cover return ground shipping via US Mail.
Return of Submissions:
Submission videos and DVDs will not be returned.

Submission Agreement:
By entering your film or video for consideration, you attest that you are legally authorized to submit the work to Self Serve and that all necessary releases, licenses and records have been obtained with respect thereto. If your work is accepted, you expressly grant Self Serve the non-exclusive right and license to exhibit and utilize your film/video as described in the festival rules, and to use it and all related publicity materials for promotional purposes for the festival.
