Vagina Monologues at U of C

I love how they are doing this!

The UChicago Feminist Collective (formerly the Feminist Majority) is resurrecting the fabulous tradition of having a dramatic reading of the Vagina Monologues.

This year’s reading will be Friday, February 25th at 7:30pm in Hutchinson Commons at 5706 S. University Ave in Hyde Park.

This production is unofficial, meaning we do not register with the VDay organization. Thus, it is absolutely free, and performers need not wear an outfit, have a certain gender, or memorize their reading. We also highly encourage people to write or ad-lib their own monologues, or decide to spontaneously participate. These monologues have been crucial in the development of American third wave feminism, but many voices are missing from the monologues. So rather than swallow Eve Ensler’s message whole, we think having an interactive evening of conversation about this pivotal piece of theatre does more justice to feminism, womyn, and vulvas.

we will be selling vulva cookies and raffling off a donation from Early to Bed at the event to raise funds for Affinity Community Services.

pelase contact femmajboard@lists.uchicago.edu with any questions you may have!
&I would like to make it clear that folks of any gender may read/write/perform a monologue. Ciswomen are not the only people with stuff to say about vaginas.
thanks so much for reading!
cheers,

-zee & the uchicago feminist collective
