Permission to Feel Good: Healing Sexual Pain & Shame

Pain and shame are two of the most common - and least talked about - barriers to pleasurable sex. Often, they’re deeply intertwined, making it difficult to know where one ends and the other begins.

In this workshop, led by a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist/Sex Counselor and Mental Health Therapists who specialize in shame, we’ll explore how emotional and physical symptoms of pain and shame can show up in your body and relationships.

You’ll be invited into a brave, supportive space to reflect on your own experiences, deepen your understanding, and walk away with practical tools to begin moving from pain and shame toward more empowered, pleasurable sex.

Bios:

Laura Ross is a queer-identified Pelvic Health Physical Therapist, AASECT Certified Sexuality Counselor and owner of Groove Pelvic Health & Wellness. Her practice centers those who receive relatively fewer services in pelvic health: queer and trans folks, cisgender men, anyone across the gender and sexuality spectrum with a sexual health concern. Laura used to be a professional oboist and then earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University.

Abby Bottorff is a non-binary trans masc Nationally Board Certified Mental Health Counselor and Certified Complex Trauma Professional. They work as a community engagement coordinator at Rowan Tree Counseling and center creating accessible queer spaces. Abby’s practice focuses on trans empowerment, fat liberation, recovering from religious trauma, neurodivergence, and sexual identity exploration through intersectional feminist lenses. Abby identifies as a formerly cool punk skater boy turned radical nerd therapist.

Em May is a queer, trans-nonbinary artist and therapist eager to work alongside folx as they reclaim their embodied right to autonomy, expansiveness, and pleasure. Passionate about exploring the impacts of religious trauma, Em leads groups through a navigation of the effects of purity culture on self-esteem, relationships, identity development, and erotic connection.

You must be 18+ to attend. Masks Required.
